One of the great pleasures of my spiritual life since I left university has been my association with the University Catholic Community (UCC) at St. Jerome’s University (SJU) in Waterloo, Ontario. My experiences there as a church musician and choir leader have led to the creation of all the music featured here on this site.

In 1981, way before my time, a member of the UCC composed a beautiful setting for the Our Father. It is in many ways UCC’s signature piece and is sung at nearly every mass celebrated at St. Jerome’s.

While the Our Father stands on its own, I thought it would be nice to have a complete set of mass parts written to accompany that stellar piece. Thus the Mass for the University Catholic Community was born.

This mass is dedicated to UCC’s former chaplains, Father Jim Link, C.R., and Melinda Szilva, who were always supportive of my explorations of church music.
